National Maritime Day 2010 Is Here.

A ship at sea.

Here in the USA, today is National Maritime Day.

May 22 is a day earmarked for recognizing the importance of the maritime industry, and the hard work done by the United States Merchant Marine.

The date itself marks the 1819 departure of the SS Savannah on the first ever trans-Atlantic voyage utilizing steam power (under a Captain Rogers, it is to be noted).

After you think of the sea as per the occasion, consider two things:

1.) A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are for.

2.) Safety first.

Triangulate accordingly.
